UNIFAC 2024: The University of Douala Shines at the Forefront of Arts and Culture

The University of Douala made a resounding impact during the 10th edition of the University Festival of Arts and Culture (UNIFAC) 2024, held at the Gulf of Guinea University Institute from November 11 to 16. The students of Douala stood out with their spectacular performances, winning three Gold Ears in major categories: the carnival, bilingualism, and traditional dance. These symbolic victories are a testament to their artistic mastery and ability to embody cultural excellence.

Under the theme “Artistic and Cultural Engineering: A Value-Added Tool for Entrepreneurship in Universities,” this festival aimed not only to promote artistic creativity but also to foster an entrepreneurial spirit. This aligns with the new law No. 2023/007, which advocates for a university model focused on innovation and cultural entrepreneurship, a strategic direction supported by the National Student Entrepreneur Status (SNEE).

Beyond the three Gold Ears, the University of Douala solidified its leadership by securing five Silver Ears in disciplines such as culinary arts, choir, theater, storytelling, and citizenship. Their versatility was further demonstrated with a Bronze Ear in stand-up comedy, confirming their ability to excel across a wide range of artistic expressions.

This impressive harvest of awards not only earned the University of Douala the second spot in the overall festival ranking but also highlighted its central role in promoting culture and arts in Cameroon. With such momentum, the artistic and entrepreneurial future of Douala’s students looks promising. Congratulations to these young talents, and we look forward to more remarkable victories in the 2025 edition!
