Welcoming Ceremony for First-Year Students at the Faculty of Law and Political Science

On Monday morning, the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FSJP) at the University of Douala held an official welcoming ceremony for its newly enrolled first-year students. The event, led by Dean André Akam Akam, marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for these young scholars, where they were reminded of the rigor and commitment required to succeed in law studies.

Dean Akam Akam opened the ceremony by warmly welcoming the new students and congratulating them for choosing to join the FSJP. In his speech, he offered valuable advice not only as a school leader but also as a father and educator. He encouraged the newcomers to develop personal discipline and foster intellectual curiosity, emphasizing the importance of taking full advantage of their legal education.

One of the highlights of the day was the introduction of the Introduction to Law course, a foundational subject for any aspiring lawyer. The course was personally introduced by the Dean, much to the delight of the students in attendance. Listening attentively, the students expressed both emotion and excitement at the significance of this first step into the world of law. The course, which serves as a springboard for all future legal studies, covers the main aspects of legal science, including public and private law, as well as the different sources of law.

Dean Akam Akam concluded by stressing the importance of academic dedication from the outset, reminding the students that success in law requires perseverance and a deep understanding of the rules that govern society. With this firm foundation, the students are now set to embark on their legal studies, ready to tackle the challenges ahead with confidence and determination.
